Hi Marie. We would wait at least a month after using weed & feed before applying another weed control product to your lawn. If you already used a combination product, you likely won't need additional weed control for that long anyway.

Hi David. You won't get great results. Moisture on the lawn allows these granules to stick to the leaves of broadleaf weeds. Wait a week, then reapply as needed.

Question

How long until I should see results?

Applied this product ten (10) days ago and only a few stickers have turned yellow. How long should I wait to ensure the product worked? How long until I should apply a second application? Our main problem is stickers, trying to kill them and stop the spreading in my yard. This product was recommend by my local Home Depot. Attached a photo below of the nice green & healthy stickers.
Thanks!

Hi Shirlett! You should have seen results by now. We're sorry you're having trouble. Can you tell us what rate you applied at? Did you water or get rain within 24 hours of treating? We can't see the weed photo you tried to send; if you can post again and attach it, we're happy to take a look at it and make sure it's a listed weed type. You live in an area where we recommend making a second application six to eight weeks after the first one; we would expect for you to see extensive yellowing and weed kill of listed weeds by this point, however.

Hi Mark. As long as you time your application correctly, it will prevent crabgrass from germinating (pre-emergent). You can also use this product to control the established broadleaf weed types listed on the label. Because the granules need moisture to stick to treated weeds, you should only apply when the grass is wet from dew or rain. You won't get great results if you apply to a dry lawn.

Question

Can I use the granules before laying sod?

I am preparing my soil for a complete lawn renovation. Is it possible to use the granules on soil alone, prior to seeding grass or laying sod? If so, how long should I wait before proceeding with either seeding or installing sod? If not, do you have any other advice for preparing soil so as to minimize emergence of weeds from the start of my new lawn?

You can use before sodding, but the waiting period is 10 weeks between treating and replanting. If you're taking out all of your old lawn, Spectracide Weed & Grass Killer would kill old grass and weeds (and you only need to wait seven days to re-sod after treating with it). It's very important that weed leaves be damp when using this product. We're guessing that lack of moisture is probably the problem. We recommend waiting a week, then trying again.

As long as you have applied as directed on the label (wet the lawn, then apply the granules), it's ok for your dog to re-enter the treatment area as soon as it has dried completely. Sniffing around is likely fine, but if your dog eats grass, you should keep him or her off of the treated lawn for 24 hours.
