It's not necessary to cut the brown parts off. If the drift was light, your shrubs will likely recover, but if they were covered, it's difficult to say. Watering affected shrubs might help.

Spectracide Weed & Grass Killer (which is not the product pictured) is a non-selective herbicide, which means it will kill anything you spray. We do make several selective weed killers (including the one pictured, Spectracide Weed Stop for Lawns Concentrate), but they're designed to be sprayed on lawns only to kill listed weeds and not harm grass plants. To control grass growing in your ornamental planter, we recommend spot treating very carefully with Spectracide Weed & Grass Killer, avoiding spray or drift to your liriope.

charlie, you used exactly half the minimum amount.
I use 1 ounce per gallon (2 tbs) and have results in 24 hours. The broad leaf weeds begin to curl overnight. I have several acres of lawn and mix 32 oz with 30 gallons of water in a pressure applicator. I love this product, it's economical and works.

If you have bluegrass, fescue, rye or zoysia grass, the rate might have been a little low. Your temperatures might be a little high for optimal results, but you will begin to see visible weed yellowing today or tomorrow. Please let us know if you do not.

How long do I need to wait to reseed the lawn - in the fall.

I am in Raleigh NC, and we need to overseed every year. I waited a bit too long to hit the weeds this year. If I do it now, I know I need to wait until I reseed - the question is how long do I need to wait? It mid September now, and ususally we can reseed into mid October.

Hi Nick. Fall is actually a great time to apply lawn weed controls -- they kill annual weeds that will resprout in your yard next spring. Apply now, then apply again in early spring when you fertilize.

Yes, you should spray again in fall when temperatures cool down a little. Lawn weed control works best when applied in early growth stages -- late summer can be a challenging time to gain control of broadleaf weeds.

Question

pets dogs and cats

This isn't a question about how long to wait before pets can enter treated areas (contact). I have 2 dogs and a cat that eat grass and leaves. My question is specifically related to toxicity of residual on leaves after the product has dried. If my dogs or cat eat grass or leaves of weeds treated with Spectacide, is it toxic, and if it is, how long do pets have to stay out of area to be safe? How long does it take for the product and all unlisted ingredients to break down into safe, inert states.

Question

Seed first then Spectracide or before?

Hello, I have some spot on my lawn where the grass has died or dried up and I was planning on planting some grass seeds.

Unfortunately I also have a weed problem. Should I use spectracide first then plant the seeds or vice versa?

If so, how long before I plant the seeds after using spectracide or how long after I plant the seeds should I use spectracide?

Thanks for all your help

Hi Joey. Either way, there's a four-week waiting period. You can spray, then wait four weeks to seed, or seed, then wait four weeks (or until third mowing -- check the label) before spraying. If it's cool enough to spray now where you are, it might be a good idea to do so, then seed in a month or two -- fall is a great time to overseed your lawn anyway.

To be clear, you're using Spectracide Weed & Grass Killer Concentrate, correct? The product you're referencing is Spectracide Weed Stop for Lawns, which should NOT be used on your grass variety. For Spectracide Weed & Grass Killer Concentrate, you can treat as you described, but be very careful to avoid spray drift to your flowers. For best results, use 7 fl oz per gallon of water.
