To be clear, you're using Spectracide Weed & Grass Killer Concentrate, correct? The product you're referencing is Spectracide Weed Stop for Lawns, which should NOT be used on your grass variety. For Spectracide Weed & Grass Killer Concentrate, you can treat as you described, but be very careful to avoid spray drift to your flowers. For best results, use 7 fl oz per gallon of water.

Wild Violet Help!

Marc asked "Does it kill wild violets" and the answer said to use Spectracide® Weed Stop® for Lawns plus Crabgrass Killer Concentrate.

It looks like the Spectracide® Weed Stop® for Lawns plus Crabgrass Killer Concentrate should not be used on Centipede so do you have another product that will help kill wild violet?

Thanks!!

We do make a Weed Stop formula specifically formulated for use on centipede (Spectracide Weed Stop for Lawns Concentrate for St. Augustine and Centipede Lawns: http://www.spectracide.com/Products-and-Solutions/Lawn-Weed-Killers/Spectracide-Weed-Stop-for-Lawns-Concentrate-for-St-Augustine-and-Centipede-Lawns.aspx) but it's not listed for use on wild violets. We recommend spot treating with Spectracide Weed & Grass Killer instead.

Question

How much product to mix with 1 gallon of water.

If I am reading your confusing label correctly, it says I have to use 5 OUNCES (10 Tablespoons) of Spectracide to a gallon of water. Is that correct?

The last bottle of Spectracide I had, it directed me to use ONE OUNCE (2 Tablespoons) to a gallon of water in my pressure sprayer AND IT WORKED FINE--killed the weeds and clover.

Are you telling me this product is five times more diluted that the old product? My old bottle was years old but still worked great.

No, 5 fl oz per gallon of water is much too high. If you're treating your entire lawn and mixing in a tank sprayer, use 1 fl oz per gallon of water to treat 250 sq ft (for bluegrass, fescue, rye and zoysia -- the rate for other grass types is different, so please check the first chart on the label for mixing instructions).

Can I spray when today is the only hot day?

I was planning on spraying my lawn today in the Detroit suburbs... Moved work schedule around to be able to. It's is 90 out unfortunately today. The forecast predicts temps in low to mid 70s rest of the week. Can I spray today at 5pm, or will just 2-3 hours of hot temps ruin my lawn?
