Question

Herbicide for weeds around ornamentals

I was told that I should not use Weed Stop for Lawns around shrubs and ornamentals, just to control weeds on lawns. Does Spectracide make a hebicide to control weeds around shrubs and ornamentals. I know that there's a herbicide that can be used after weeding around shrubs and ornamental. I see the city's landscapers use some kind of spray on the mulch around the base of trees and shrubs to control weeds.

This product doesn't have any residual action -- it will kill more than 200 types of weeds with one application when you follow the directions on the label. You'll start to see results overnight, but some tough established weeds may take up to three weeks to kill. If that is the case, repeat application with a spot treatment to those weeds only. Please let us know if you need anything else!

St. Augustine Definition

I understand Spectracide Weed Stop for Lawns should not be used on the Floratam specific variety of St. Augustine grass. I live in Texas where Bermuda and common St. Augustine are frequently mixed in the same yard. Will this product harm common St. Augustine? The literature is a little confusing.

No, wet grass should not make a difference (as long as it did not rain within six hours of application). The speed of results depends on air temperature, both during the day and at night. If it's getting a little cool at night, it might take a couple more days to see visible results. Please give it a little more time, then let us know if you're still not seeing dead weeds.

I have spectracide weed stop for lawns (not with crabb grass killer) but the instruction label is not readable. Mine is an older green bottle. Is there any specific instructions other than connecting to water hose and spraying. How often? Front label says I should see results in 8 hrs.
